Chapter 2

Where Am I

Looking around me barely able to lift my head, I noticed sand, lots of sand. My legs were partially covered with half of my body in the water as the waves ascended and descended upon me. Joshua crawled to a sitting position but noticed small cuts and abrasions all over his legs. He tried to stand but cringed in pain while reaching for his ribs. Broken, he thought as he began to take slow steps further away from the water.

He scanned the area and noticed a boat, smashed and turned to its side with smoke coming from it. He looked around only seeing the water before him. He tried to turn and look behind him but could not. His back was sore, making it almost impossible to stand. He slowly stood to his feet and turned towards the thick bushy area behind him. "Oh my God! Where am I?"

To Joshua, the scene looked unreal. Like a beach horror movie. Trees were tall, but leaning. Bushes were thick with red and yellow flowers in them. Some dark and dead looking. Was that a small monkey I just saw? Joshua began to back away from the weird looking paradise and suddenly fell to his back. Laying on his back, he looked into the air, not a cloud in sight. No sun, just clear grey sky.
