Chapter 3

A Beautiful Woman and Rest

Joshua looked through the wreckage, noticing broken pictures with him and a beautiful woman on them. "What is going on? This person in the pictures with me, is it my wife?" Joshua looked at his hand and noticed a wedding band. "If she was my wife, where is she?" As he continued looking through the damaged boat, he found many objects that suggested that he and the woman in the pictures were somehow acquainted. The wedding band, the pictures, this didn't make much sense.

All the time he spent in the cabin of the boat, he didn't notice that the sky was getting darker and the winds were picking up. He walked away from the boat taking in his surroundings. "I have to find shelter." Joshua began to walk towards the thick bushes. He didn't bother looking up at the trees which seem to hover over him as he walked closer and closer to the edge of the thick wilderness. Joshua could hear a few bird noises as he reached towards the bushes and took his first step forward. He tried moving slowly and quietly as he struggled to move through the thick vines and bushes. He moved deeper and deeper into the dark paradise but suddenly stopped when he heard something moving about 10 feet in front of him. The noise moved closer to him and then stopped. Joshua shook the bushes in front of him, and the noise began moving away from him. He waited a few moments more, and then moved on forward.

Finally he came to a small opening in the bush. The moonlight lit the area enough that he could now see. Joshua sat in the middle of the small opening looking around him. It was unusually warm in the thick bushes. Joshua remembered how cold it was on the shore of the island. He decided to lay in the opening and sleep. "Perhaps tomorrow I will find more answers," thought Joshua as he lay on his back, folded his arms across his chest, and fell asleep.
