Chapter 1

Somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea

Having dinner in the middle of so much water is my idea of a dream date with my lovely wife. I put a blindfold on her and led her to the deck of our boat. "Your blue eyes match the ocean," I told her. She smiled at me looking just as she had in seminary school years before. We met during my first year of bible college in Utah 12 years ago. "I love you so much, Margaret." "I love you too, Joshua." I continued to stare into her eyes, thinking how did God give me such a wonderful woman in the midst of my messy lifestyle. She knew of my addiction, but was caring and understanding about every detail. "What's on your mind, sweetheart?" She looked out at the water, not smiling nor frowning, as if she knew something was about to happen. "Are you cold, my dear?" "Not really. I'm distracted by the sudden wind, that's all." Dinner is lovely. Margaret changed the subject because she didn't want to ruin the moment.

The wind gradually picked up in force as Joshua and Margaret made their way below deck. Joshua grabbed her around her waist and pulled her up next to his body. They began to kiss but Margaret stopped, looking concerned about the boat rocking and tilting. "Joshua, the weather seems to be very unpleasant. Shouldn't we take some kind of safety precautions?" Joshua said yes, but with his mouth against her neck. "Please go see what's going on out there, Joshua." Margaret was now afraid something was going to happen. I stopped kissing her, very sexually frustrated. "Okay sweetheart. I'll be back shortly. Stay here and pray alright?" She nodded and grabbed my arm. "It's okay. I'll be back, Margaret."

He walked a few steps forward and the boat rocked to one side, almost completely to its side. Dishes and portraits now falling to the floor. "Oh God!" Margaret screamed as she ran to Joshua's arms. They walked to the deck and looked out at the ocean surface. Joshua stood staring, wide eyes and mouth open. Margaret put her hands to her mouth as she looked out before her in horror. Joshua barely glanced towards Margaret before seeing her body go into the giant funnel. "MARGARET!" Joshua shouted as his body was thrown into the cabin door. He grabbed the rail near the boat's edge and held on tight. He could feel the boat going in a circular motion but shut his eyes tight as he held on to the rail. He heard a faint cry from a distance with the last words of his wife echoing through his ears... Joshua.
