Now she was on pins and needles. This playlist, which had sounded autobiographical up to this point, was starting to feel like it was pointed directly at her. Where was he going with this?

It wasn't obvious from the lyrics exactly what this thing was that she needed to do, this thing that was right, but she had a feeling that maybe she knew. She just couldn't quite put it into words. When she thought harder, though, she found a hint. Give it up...give it all...everything you are, because everything you want, you know you'll find it all in Him... Was she clinging too tightly to her earthly identity, to her skin color and all the associations she had learned to attach to it? Was she living below her potential as a child of the Almighty?
One thing was certain: something was moving within her that hadn't moved in a very long time. A hard coating around her heart had cracked and now the plates were shifting. Something seismic was occurring.
