Things went back to normal pretty quickly, To my surprise. I wound up adoring Janessa. Tyler and her were great for one another and Chase had his best friend back.
Tyler was just like Chase and in ways, they were more like brothers. He was charismatic, confident, sarcastic and goofy. They were the morale of the team back in the day.
And Janessa, was sweet, mild mannered, quiet… until you pissed her off that is. She wasn't the type I would've ever thought I'd see in the Navy ops but, I'm sure there was a time people thought that of me. She was deadly if you came in between people she loved and I think that's why they put her on the force with Tyler. He drew out her full potential.
You shoulda seen the look on Chase's face when he came back to reality to find that Tyler was alive and well. It was like seeing exactly how I felt when I saw him played out in realtime.
Everybody should get the chance of experiencing their dead loved ones coming back and not being the horror story That we grew up with… Not gonna lie, The first thought that came to mind when I saw Tyler again was two words “Pet Sematary.”
No. I never told him that, although, he would’ve gotten a kick out of it.
We Became our own little tight knit family and for a second, I started to feel like a little girl again, Hopeful and happy.
Chase and I decided that our time spent in the Navy had come to an end. We both retired deciding that we had had enough excitement for one lifetime. We went back to Ireland every now and again to pay our respects to Ian and throw one back in his honor. We did the same with all of our other fallen comrades.
Tyler and Janessa would stay and serve for another 5 years.
Chase pulled some strings and we'd pop in on them in the middle of their tours, just like Ian had done for us years before.
Didn't matter what month of the year it was, when they got done with a mission, we would pack every holiday we'd missed in between into one gigantic celebration and they would always be held at Ian's farm which we had inherited and catered by Chase's restaurant.
I saw to it that those two were well versed in finding their way around my "top shelf tortures" and we had so many great stories and
massive hangovers to overcome together.
