Chapter 4

Character

King Josiah

Eight

That’s my age.

My father is dead,

They killed him in rage.

And now they expect me

To turn the page

Into a new reign.

Eight.

They made me king.

As they coronate

Me, all I can think is:

Heavy is the weight

Of life without my dad.

Eight.

I have to do it.

I wish I could wait

Until someone else

Restores Judah.

2 Chronicles 33:25 - 34:2

Sixteen

Eight years later,

I decided that

I’m not going to waiver.

Everything that’s not of God

Must go.

I don’t care what it costs me.

Every idol.

Every shrine.

Every altar.

Every carving.

I refuse

to lose

my soul

to a reputation.

2 Chronicles 34:3-7

Twenty-six

I’ve lived to be 2 years

older than my father.

I must be doing something right.

I’ve cleansed the temple,

Purged the land.

But what about my people?

They must join me

in serving this Holy God!

With diligence.

With faithfulness.

With obedience.

Because if He’s truly the Lord,

then we owe Him nothing short

of our lives.

2 Chronicles 34:8, 33

The Pharisee

“Have you not read?”

Surely He knows I’m devoted

To every word quoted

In the Holy Scriptures.

I don’t understand.

How is this carpenter Man

never outdone?

The people adore

Him so much more

Than they ever did me

We must refrain

From being fooled.

He mustn’t remain

In our courts.

Because who will I be

When the people stop

Respecting me?

Watch Your back, Rabbi…

The Pharisee

I am Pilate

I didn’t do anything wrong.

The people made their choice.

I just got paid to go along

With what they ask.

“Jesus of Nazareth

King of the Jews”

In 3 different languages,

I shared the good news.

Hebrew, Latin, and Greek.

The chief priests didn’t believe

That the Man they seek

Is telling the truth..

They thought it was a facade–

That He was pretending

To be something special, something odd.

But in reality,

He truly was the Messiah

John 19:19-22
