*“*A genuine odyssey is not about piling up experiences. It is a deeply felt, risky, unpredictable tour of the soul.” ―Thomas Moore, Care of the Soul: A Guide for Cultivating Depth and Sacredness in Everyday Life
Are you ready to take an "unpredictable tour of the soul?” For that, we will be engaging with the liminal realm around us. It might get a little spooky. The hallway beckons.
What is Liminal? Liminal is a threshold, a rite of passage or a blurry space in between two places. What might they hold for us?
“British diplomat Gordon Creighton believed humanity sees only a narrow piece of existence and may share this room with worlds beyond its vocabulary.
He also suspected earlier human civilizations had been destroyed, modern humanity was partly engineered, and opposing cosmic forces were struggling for control.” - Fraying Reality, FB post
What do you think about that quote above? Are you sure that you are correct? Are they? Either way, please take a walk with me into these liminal spaces together. Let us see what we might perceive for ourselves….
It is dark. The edge awaits us. Will we cross that boundary? You know you want to.
“In the universe, there are things that are known, and things that are unknown, and in between them, there are doors.”
― William Blake
What calls you from the edge? Have you ever had the feeling that something else might exist in your space, but which you cannot see or hear? On the other hand, have you had an occurrence that you cannot explain? You might have seen or heard something that shouldn’t have been there? If so, think about that now. How did it make you feel? And what was it?
"This is in the end the only kind of courage that is required of us: the courage to face the strangest, most unusual, most inexplicable experiences that can meet us. The fact that people have in this sense been cowardly has done infinite harm to life; the experiences that are called ‘apparition,’ the whole so-called ‘world of spirit,’ death, all these things that are so closely related to us, have through our daily defensiveness been so entirely eliminated from life that the senses with which we might have been able to grasp them have atrophied."
—Rainer Maria Rilke (from the Duino Elegies)
I’ll be brave if you will. Let’s peek through those doors. More awaits us on this journey.
“We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities.” --Ralph Waldo Emerson
Approach these gates. Continue to approach this liminal space before you. Inside is your own world of discovery. Maybe you will find a new way of thinking or a new beginning here. Maybe it has been waiting for you all along, waiting to reveal more about yourself or about this world that we inhabit together.
“We are one, after all, you and I, together we suffer,
together exist, and forever will recreate each other.”
― Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
When ready, let your adventure begin….What shall it become?
The doors are open…Come on in.
