So heavy... After taking a few minutes to let her heart slow back down, she turned the page and found "Matthew 21:18-22".
Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Below, she read:
Nám íza bid ërr. Irr nám saab ed bid hufod. Ën hien repa námba, árrba údh fuorb ga fon bûs repa lhidd.

She saw a beautiful young black woman sitting across the table, eyes closed and head bowed in prayer. The way she went about it reminded her of a Kyokushin adept: straight to the point, full contact, no hesitation. This was no ordinary, vacillating act of supplication. This was dunamis. Power radiated from her like heat from a star, humming around and through Sophia herself. This was what had drawn her to Nimrod's children in the end. This was the kind of faith she had learned how to cultivate in her churches of origin and to these dear people, it came naturally. For that main reason and one other, she had come to view them as kin, even though she looked nothing like them and frequently crossed swords with them on secular subjects.
Every blessing God offered was not merely theirs to enjoy but within easy reach if they could just keep their focus and stay humble. "Representation" would take care of itself because their great and miraculous deeds would announce them to all, without the need for words or campaigning.

A low whistle escaped her lips. That had been fascinating. Had he actually felt such energy coming from that woman, as the vision suggested? If so, did that kind of potential sleep within her? What could she accomplish with it? Could this be a hint at what was actually giving the book its strange properties? Had he used this "dunamis", as he called it, to charge the book? She didn't understand it completely, but she was starting to think that she was on the right track, as this promised to reconcile his reputed piety with these "magical" effects. It also helped explain why he married out the way he did. He had felt a bond of spiritual kinship, apparently, for this reason and for one other which had not yet been disclosed. Would she learn this other reason if she kept reading?
