"30. Just Believe--Russ Taff"
Out of the cathartic silence in which "This Time" had culminated, there emerged a soft but increasingly insistent refrain that tugged at her.
...Jesus said it. I believe it. I believe it 'cause He said it. And I know, yes I know, yes I know He's gonna see me through...
As the lines repeated and gained volume, something inside prompted her to pay special attention. These lyrics and the ones that followed could be very important.
Sometimes those clouds get in the way / Keeps you from reaching out to to God in faith / The situation, it seems the same / You feel your praying is in vain / But I believe this to be true / If you pray, God's working, yes He is / And this one thing I know He'll do / He'll move the Earth to see you through / If you'll believe, just believe
He said if we would ask, that we would receive / Every promise that God has made to you and me / And I hear the Master say, "Don't be afraid. Just believe."...
As the verse led back into the opening chorus, it hit her: this was the operative core of the whole playlist. This was the fuel that had kept Lazarus going. Whenever things looked bleak, he would cling to these words and use the promise in them to push his way through. Was this what had given the book its strange power? This blessedly stubborn profession of faith?
So even if you feel alone / And it takes all your strength to keep holdin' on / It won't be long 'til victory comes / 'Cause in your weakness, He will be strong / Yes, I've seen that mountain move / I've seen Him workin', yes I have / And He's proved it to be true / What He's done for me, He'll do for you / If you'll just believe
...
So keep on holdin' on / To what you know is true / And I know God / He will come through, but His / His word is on the line / And He'll come through in time / Just believe, just believe / Jesus said it, I believe it!
...
Jesus said it, I believe it! / He doesn't lie...He doesn't lie / Jesus said it / I know He said it, I know it's true! / Jesus said it and I believe it...
As the song faded out, she couldn't help but admire the determination here. Through her tears, she found herself laughing. Gampa may have been whiter than a snowdrift in January, but he prayed like an old school brotha. No wonder his prayers got answered!
