Chapter 22

SV21

"5. The Lion Roars--Paul Smith"

Here the tempo picked up again, but not with levity. Knowing him the way she did now, she was not surprised, but it was one thing to feel his emotions in small bursts and another to physically hear them given form.

I know you know you're the sheep of His pasture / But you stray from the Shepherd's eyes / So convinced you're exempt from temptation / There's more danger than you realize / And you think that it's not going to matter / If you wander too far from home / You say, after all, it's your nature / To follow the will to roam

Oh, you have drifted before without stumbling / Think you're holding some bright lucky charm / So you're strong enough to hold your own ground / When the fight starts, you'll never be harmed / But if sheep are as strong as you're saying / Then what is a Shepherd for? / Oh, He knows what goes on / When His sheep are exposed to the lion's roar

Oh, the lion roars / Seeking his prey / Yeah, the lion roars / Who will he devour today? / The lion roars / Raging when temptation wars / Be careful to never ignore / When the lion roars

Better eat what is served at your table / Drink the water drawn from your own well / Your desire is a ploy of the lion / To weave your heart under his spell / Well, you think you're so swift and surefooted / But in the shadows, behind every door / Be aware of what's there / Be ready to run when the lion roars

...

And the strengths that you leave unguarded / Will be twice as weak as before / Be careful to never ignore / When the lion roars...

Whoa... If everything else on the list was like this, she might have to pace herself. And knowing how Mom turned out, these vibes were likely to get even stronger as she went down the list. Papa Bear was up and the adrenaline was flowing.
