The Last Guest

Eighteen months after his wife’s death, Daniel Mercer finally agrees to rent out the upstairs bedroom she once used as an office. He needs the money. More than that, he needs something in the house to change.

Then Mara Bell arrives.

She’s charming, observant, and strangely comfortable in a house she’s never seen before. She knows which kitchen drawer sticks. She avoids the third stair because it creaks. And one night, Daniel hears her humming a song his wife used to sing when she thought no one was listening.
