The Fair was in Town for an entire summer. Country 4H Fair,
ma’am was in charge of the Mennonite, and Amish section.
Art for each grade first through twelve grades. Each grade a class of its own giving ribbons blue , red and green.
Art made from wood, dried flowers, tree limbs . Paint, brushed with a hand of its owner . Beautiful work by the artist.
Then a fashion show by clothing designers young ladies made and sewed their own clothing line. Other young ladies model to an audience of fair goers.
Young lads tan leather making belts, halters for horses, lead ropes and saddles . To win ribbons which often times lands them a job in the saddle tack Buisness.
Then Animals small to beast
Rabbits, off all classes , cats and dogs show. Horses of all genres and Cows god bless.
Dat drove the two Holsteins down to deliver . He loaded them into a stall facing out towards fair goers viewing them.
Dat belonged to Mennonite who are allowed to have a driver license. Their sect can sell wine and drink themselves and smoke tobacco. This sect made by themselves with many people who are apart of it. It is used with care no over indulgence .
Mary hugged Mello and Daisy the cows names. They were very clean and manicured.
Folks walked slowly by , some English non farmer children got to pet them. Ma’am handed each a card with Holstein on it.
Outside sunny and warm, summer in full swing. A country fair ground stood amongst Mennonite and Old Order Amish Farms.
The meadow all around seemed endless with natural flowers growing. Clumps of brush , Trees of winds keep from gettin too big.
The Fair Grounds fenced in by wire fences and wooden posts. White washed long barns seen from afar. Buggy’s and vehicles parked in especially made gravel parking lots
In the food barn , judging pies , Mary and Ma’am had pies there. In fact every neighbor in town had pies there. Beautiful baked prize worthy pie.
Those who put in which pie the prettiest vote. The judges taste tested to choose which pie best tasting.
Outside-a crowd made their-way looking at everything. Stopping at the restaurant barn.
Maid rites very popular along with a coke and cheese fries. Three dollars for the meal. Hotdogs on a bun , chips and a coke three dollars. Slices of pizza and a coke , two dollars.
A large tent outside for the family amusement rides. The more the merrier arrived to ride ponies . Throw horse shoes for a prize, Ball pitch into a basket, throwing a basketball through a hoop.
“ I’m looking for Mary Bontrager, you know of her showing Cows. Danke very much.” Jedediah said . They pointe him towards the barn number seven right above the door. He walked in a large Mennonite man of not more than twenty-six, twenty-seven.
He had brown curly hair, blue eyes, handsome, tan from farming. There she is a pretty fair skinned Mary .
Their eyes met both waved hello . “ Jebediah , hallo gut seeing you.”
