“Reggie...” The voice was low but ragged.

I dropped my gun. “Lucian.” I grabbed his shoulder, leading him away from the house. “We have to go.”

Lucian pulled away. “We can't leave him...”

I put him in a chokehold when he went to run into the house. “He's not in there, Lucian!”

I waved at Lucian's men, and they rushed over, grabbing Lucian. “Get him in the car. They will be at Don's main house.”

It was the fastest I had ever seen them move, and we were gone in seconds. By the time we hit the highway, I looked to Lucian.

“He's dead, Lucian.”

The glow from the street lights hit his face just to shatter my heart once more. I knew this would be painful for him, but I was hoping I wouldn't see it until this was over. I was surprised his tone was even when he spoke.

“How do you know? Did they leave his body?”

“Just a finger,” was my only reply.

I didn't need to elaborate; he knew how this business worked. The Vypers would have taken it as a trophy for them to show off, and a reminder for us when we arrived for revenge. It was psychological warfare. I was prepared for it, but I wasn't sure Lucian was.

“Let me do this...alone.” My tone was low, but full of authority. The authority given to me by his father. He didn't like it, but he honored it...Until now. I felt him shaking his head from where I was sitting.

“No, I will go with you. They will not take my father's empire.”

I didn't have time to argue; Don's place was right around the corner.

Tapping the front seat, “Pull into Viktor's driveway. They'll be expecting us to pull into the Don's.”

“I'm way ahead of you, Reggie.” I didn't know the driver. That was unnerving, but a problem for another day. We were already through the gates at Viktor's and pulling into the garage.
